It's already been a week since I returned from Woljeong, Jeju. I really wanted to share the emotions I felt during my week-long stay.
I came to Jeju looking for 'rest,' and Woljeong-ri in Gujwa-eup captured my heart.
The small seaside village I visited with my dog was filled with the scent of the sea, and it was a quiet and peaceful place where the only sounds were the birds' songs and the rain falling through the open windows.
After a long life abroad and exhausted by city noise and people, this space was exactly what I needed. The house was just as it appeared in the photos, and its clean, modern first impression felt as comfortable and cozy as my own home. With the sea slightly visible from the living room and bedroom, I was able to rest all day long, gazing blankly at the sky and sea.
Every morning, I took walks along the beach with my dog, holding the long-missed Jeju sea in my heart, and felt small happiness seeing the low stone walls and countryside houses without gates. As I did, my guard naturally melted away like ice in the warm sunlight. I was especially grateful for the owner's sincerity and thoughtfulness, sharing warm affection with me every day. With the potatoes, abalone steamed, sauce, fresh Jeju tangerines, and ice cream she prepared for me, I was overwhelmed, and I think I will remember that heart for a long, long time.
On the morning of my departure, it was raining and I was worried, but as if she knew my concerns, she came from the city on purpose to say goodbye, put an umbrella over me and my dog, and moved my large luggage to the main road. She even gave me two bottles of sesame oil to give to my mother. I was so moved that I wondered if I deserved to receive such kindness, and I ended up crying in the taxi on the way to the airport.
I spent a full week resting in emotion and comfort, emptying much and recovering my heart. And for the next guests who will stay here, I carefully leave this feeling.
Owner, I'll see you again with a smile on a beautiful autumn day ^^
