I had a wonderful week here with absolutely nothing lacking ☺☺
First of all, the host is so, so, so kind ㅠㅠ
The room was clean and had everything I needed, so staying for more than a week was no problem!! If I requested anything I needed, they took care of it almost immediately!
You have to travel a bit to reach the main bustling area, but there are plenty of great restaurants and decent eateries in the neighborhood, so unless you feel you absolutely *must* go to famous restaurants in Jeju City... you can enjoy delicious food without having to travel far!!
Seogwipo Olle Market isn't as far as I thought (based on a pedestrian + public transport lover), so it's easy to get there too.
I came here with the goal of 'living' here for a week, and I had a truly happy stay! I suppose Jeju Island is generally like that, but Namwon is close to the sea, has low-rise buildings, and lots of greenery, so it was great just to walk around! I got the feeling that it is a quiet and charming neighborhood ☺☺
I think I will live with the memories of this week for a long time to come.
I will live diligently and definitely come back. Thank you for treating me so kindly! I was truly, truly happy.
Lastly, here are a few things I enjoyed eating and seeing... actually, they are things you can find if you search online.
1. Keuneong Coastal Scenic Area
- Korean Peninsula-shaped topography
- Great for walks and sea views
- The sound is scary if you come when the waves are strong (...)
2. Yudong Coffee
- Seogwipo Daily Olle Market, including Yudong Coffee
- If you have about 1,000 won to spare, try the seasonal beans
- It gets crowded
- Lee Jung-seop Street is located between Yudong Coffee and Olle Market, but it is a bit of a hill
3. Heeyane Restaurant
- It’s really sad that it’s already so crowded... but I’m announcing this for the public good....
- The stir-fried pork is seriously insane
- But the portions are huge, so light eaters need to be prepared
- Because there are so many people, the interior can be a bit noisy and clattering (of course, since it was delicious, I ate with my own noise-canceling function activated; it was just me and the stir-fried pork)
4. Haeidang
- A seafood stew restaurant
- In the same building as the fishing village association office
- Not a seafood stew that relies on soy sauce, but one where you can really taste the natural flavor of the seafood
- The owner is incredibly kind
And... You absolutely must try mackerel sashimi wherever you go.
Since I'm a newbie to Jeju Island, the black pork belly was delicious too 🤣
